PRESS RELEASE
DES MOINES, Iowa, Dec. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Palisade Systems, the leader in Data Loss Prevention solutions for the small- and medium-sized enterprise, has completed internal certification of its PacketSure 7.6 service to ensure that its solution protects corporations utilizing new social network services and software.
More and more companies are becoming involved in social networking and media - according to a recent article in eMarketer, close to 70 percent of small marketers are increasing their budgets for social media for 2010. With that increase of social media engagement, small- and medium-sized enterprises need to ensure that they are staying up-to-date with federal compliances, as well as keeping information private.
Palisade PacketSure already helps corporations monitor email - both Web-based and hosted - as well as other communications tools, such as corporate and commercial instant messaging systems. To ensure that the data loss prevention extended to Facebook and Twitter, Palisade Systems has undergone a multi-stage internal certification process to ensure that sensitive and private information is protected using these emerging communication channels.
"We understand that social media and networks are now an integral part of communications and collaboration for our customers. These same companies need to protect themselves and their employees from accidental data loss," said Christian Renaud, CEO and president of Palisade Systems. "As a company that uses Twitter at @PalisadeDLP, as well as shares data over instant messaging, email and file sharing programs, we are very attuned to the needs for security and loss prevention. We wanted to bring the best social media data loss security to our customers, so they can continue to leverage social media and tools while knowing that they do not need to worry about data loss."
To ensure that PacketSure is preventing data leakage with Twitter, Palisade tested out TweetDeck and Seesmic, as well as using the Web interface at Twitter and with Hootsuite. With the Web interfaces, PacketSure can function as a transparent proxy; with the Adobe Air applications, PacketSure is able to route through a proxy, and ensures that data is protected. With corporate Facebook pages and employee activities, the typical usage is through the Facebook Website interface, which is covered by PacketSure monitoring and prevents any data leakage through Facebook.
This is all part of the PacketSure suite which helps prevent sensitive data loss from our small and medium-sized enterprise customers.
