OTTAWA and MAYNARD, Mass. -- NewHeights Software, a leading provider of next-generation software client solutions, and Covergence, the leader in scaling, securing, and controlling VoIP and other real-time services based on the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP), announced today that they have teamed to provide a secure, soft-client communications experience for enterprise users.

NewHeights' enterprise soft-client provides an elegant communications management interface for fixed and mobile users. NewHeights will leverage Covergence's Eclipse to further integrate Transport Layer Security (TLS) and Secure Real-Time Protocol (SRTP) standards into its enterprise soft-client offering. The combination outfits Service Providers with a powerful solution that extends the security and reliability traditionally associated with the PSTN to the SIP-enabled enterprise desktop.

"While a variety of soft-clients are deployed in the enterprise through unauthorized end-user installations that bypass corporate security policies, NewHeights is committed to seamless integration with carrier-class security standards," said Owen Matthews, chief executive officer, NewHeights. "NewHeights' strategic focus has been to integrate with the leading telephony and enterprise applications in the market. Integrating Covergence's SIP security solutions with our soft-client technology supports this strategy and further establishes NewHeights as the soft-client vendor of choice for today's Service Provider and enterprise customer."
