NetContinuum Web application firewalls and application gateways provide enhanced security to enterprises that run SAPR business software

SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- NetContinuum (www.netcontinuum.com Over 200 customers in 25 countries have deployed NetContinuum's products to protect their critical online web applications. Several of these customers run their applications on the SAP NetWeaverR platform and make them available over the Internet to customers and business partners through a portal. NetContinuum's participation in the GSA program increases the choices available to these customers as they implement their security strategies in partnership with SAP Consulting. Online web-based applications are increasingly at risk from professional hackers who target such applications in order to commit data theft or fraud. Being compromised can damage an enterprise's reputation, result in loss of customers, and impact the organization's bottom line - to the tune of approximately $300 per compromised record according to several studies. Furthermore, companies that transact online are faced with a host of growing industry regulations such as the Payment Card Industry (PCI) Data Security Standard. The combination of these factors along with the backdrop of a 2008 deadline for PCI compliance necessitates the introduction of more effective risk protection for on-line web applications. NetContinuum's web application firewalls are well suited to protecting web applications delivered on the SAP NetWeaver platform. "We are looking forward to working closely with SAP Consulting in providing SAP customers with the highest levels of application security," said Varun Nagaraj, CEO of NetContinuum. "Our experience with SAP applications in the field has given us specific insights into how SAP applications use constructs such as session IDs, parameters, and SSL certificates. These insights enable us to comprehensively and rapidly provide an additional layer of protection to NetWeaver implementations." NetContinuum Inc.
