PRESS RELEASE

HERNDON, Va. (June 9, 2009) - The Transglobal Secure Collaboration Program (TSCP) today announced that Microsoft Corp., the world's largest software maker, is its newest member. The Microsoft U.S. Federal business unit, which provides mission-critical solutions and software to federal agencies, will be actively collaborating with TSCP.

Microsoft joins TSCP's expanding lineup of organizations, governments and technology providers committed to driving common standards for secure collaboration across the global aerospace and defense (A&D) industry. As TSCP's first gold software member, Microsoft will help these partners " who are also often competitors " accelerate adoption for industry-wide requirements for secure information sharing, identity management and document management with identity federation.

"Cyber security threats are on the rise, making the need to know who you're doing business with more important " especially in A&D where the risks are great," said Teresa Carlson, vice president of Microsoft U.S. Federal, based in Chevy Chase, Maryland. "Our partnership with TSCP will allow us to better serve our customers in this critical market, with innovative products for secure collaboration built on the highest industry standards."

Microsoft will participate in the reference implementation of TSCP's secure collaboration specification to align its commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) solutions. Microsoft hopes to benefit from participation with the TSCP enterprise architect working group to understand the group's goals and objectives to evaluate future product direction with those goals in mind.

"Microsoft is ahead of the curve in ensuring its products will meet the needs of defense agencies and partners," said Keith Ward, TSCP chairman. "With Microsoft on board, we're one step closer to widespread adoption of industry standards that reduce the risk associated with large-scale, collaborative programs that span national jurisdictions."

Current TSCP members include the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD), U.S. General Services Administration (GSA), U.K. Ministry of Defence (MoD), Netherlands MoD, BAE Systems, Boeing, EADS/AIRBUS, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, Raytheon, Rolls-Royce and Finmeccanica.
