PRESS RELEASE
San Francisco, Calif. " MARCH 1, 2010 " M86 Security, the global expert in Web and email threat protection, today announces its M86 Secure Messaging Service, a cloud-based Software as a Service (SaaS) solution combining inbound/outbound content filtering, granular policy control, an award-winning anti-spam engine and unique behavioral malware analysis technology. Based on technology from the M86 MailMarshal SMTP platform, the new service will deliver on the policy and configuration requirements that customers demand but have not before been available with existing email security services. M86 Secure Messaging Service is designed for the small and medium business, enterprise and ISP markets.
"Cloud-based services continue to offer attractive ownership cost and configuration simplicity advantages for many organizations," said Richard Stiennon, chief research analyst, IT-Harvest, an independent research firm. "The combination of anti-spam, content filtering, policy control and behavioral malware analysis technologies provided by M86 in the M86 Secure Messaging Service provides a new level of granularity and intelligence to the toolkit of any sized organization seeking to block email threats."
The M86 Secure Messaging Service incorporates key features from MailMarshal SMTP and offers them in a simple to use cloud-based deployment that is ideal as an intelligent single line- or first line-of-defense solution for granular email control/management, content filtering and anti-spam and anti-virus security. It includes well-known capabilities such as M86's Text Censor, the industry leading lexical analysis technology; behavior-based malware detection for blocking the latest email blended threat attacks; anti-virus protection; and M86's highly-rated anti-spam technology -- SpamCensor.
M86 Secure Messaging Service stops illegitimate or inappropriate emails including inappropriate images, spam, and malicious code before it reaches a protected network, allowing organizations to minimize the impact of unwanted email on Internet bandwidth while protecting business critical systems from serious email based threats. M86 Secure Messaging Service also enables customers to apply more granular control over their policies by customizing the email security and content filtering settings.
"Given the dramatic 400% increase in malicious email volume we saw in the second half of 2009, organizations continue to face an uphill battle when it comes to adding the necessary intelligence to their networks to manage the new generation of email threats," said Werner Thalmeier, vice president, product management, M86 Security. "We've taken our content filtering and behavioral malware analysis expertise, along with the most complete email security and management technology in the business, to create a cost-effective, cloud-based solution that addresses the latest email attacks; cleaning threats before they reach the email gateway and customer network."
In April, M86 Security will commence beta testing with current customers and those interested in getting early access to the service as part of the Early Adopters Program (EAP).The M86 Secure Messaging Service will launch in Q3 of 2010.
