ACTON, Mass. -- Lumigent Technologies today introduced a new version of its flagship Audit DB product that delivers the “holy grail” of the database auditing world – a database security and compliance system that supports all three common methods of data collection in a single, unified platform. Until today, organizations wishing to monitor and protect their databases had to choose among three different methods of data collection: capturing traffic as it flows across the network, analyzing log files of actual database transactions or relying on the database’s native auditing capabilities. With the introduction of Audit DB 6.0 and the AuditFlex™ architecture, organizations no longer need to choose one approach over the other and can, for the first time, mix and match the three approaches as dictated by IT or regulatory requirements.

“The introduction of Audit DB 6.0 truly breaks new ground,” said Cliff Pollan, CEO of Lumigent. “For the first time, choosing a system to audit and protect corporate databases no longer comes down to a religious battle over which method of data collection is better or which one approach will win out over all others. Instead, Audit DB now gives organizations the freedom to use whichever method is best suited for a particular system or scenario. Need to monitor and protect a real-time financial trading system in a giant brokerage? Use network data collection so that you don’t have to touch the production systems in any way. Need to protect the back-end reconciliation systems or back-office applications in the same brokerage? Use log analysis so you have a definitive record of what actually happened to the data in the database and so you needn’t worry about issues with privileged users or encrypted network traffic. Audit DB lets you make the choice, with the huge benefit of having the data from the different collection mechanisms unified in a single system, with a single set of policies, alerts and reports.”

Audit DB 6.0 leverages Lumigent’s new AuditFlex architecture to increase the scope and completeness of database security and compliance by delivering significant new features including network-based real-time alerts, enhanced application user auditing, a new privacy reporting module, change-ticket auditing and a new workflow system. Customers can feel confident that these new capabilities will address any and all issues related to Sarbanes-Oxley compliance, privacy and PCI compliance, privileged user monitoring, fraud detection and database forensics.

Traditionally known for its best-of-breed log analysis and native auditing technology, Lumigent is the acknowledged industry leader with nearly three times the number of customer deployments as compared to its nearest competitor. With this release of Audit DB however, Lumigent further distances itself from competitors by introducing network capture technology combined with the same technology that has been field-proven over the last seven years in thousands of production systems at some of the world’s largest Wall Street organizations.
