FREMONT, Calif. -- Lexar, a world leader in advanced digital media technologies, today announced that it has begun shipping its first enterprise-class USB Personal Storage Device, the SAFE PSD S1100 (acronym for Secure Access For Enterprise – Personal Storage Device) with multi-layered security architecture. The SAFE PSD S1100 has already gained widespread industry acclaim. In August 2006, it won the prestigious “Best of Show” award for “Best Hardware Product” at both the Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA) Breakaway 2006 and CT Summit conferences, and on November 2nd it was awarded the same accolade at the CompTIA SMB Summit in Tucson, AZ. The SAFE PSD S1100 was also recognized for “Best Channel Strategy” at the Tucson CompTIA SMB Summit.

The S1100 was developed for enterprises and government agencies that want their employees to be able to store and access data on USB Flash drives, but also want to make sure that data is kept secure and private in case of device loss or theft. Two major components of the S1100’s security architecture are Lexar’s PSD-Lock technology, an embedded device access control technology that enables USB device locking, and onboard 256-bit “on-the-fly” AES hardware encryption.

“Our goal was to create a PSD that would meet enterprise requirements in the areas of security, device manageability and access control,” said Farshid Tabrizi, General Manager, USB Products at Lexar. “The recognition that our first enterprise-class USB Personal Storage Device has earned from experts at several industry events is extremely gratifying. We understand that by providing enterprises with personal storage devices designed with embedded device access control and hardware encryption based on industry standards, we not only address concerns about data loss and theft but we also aid enterprises with regulatory compliance issues regarding SOX and GLBA, in addition to satisfying an enterprise’s need to centrally manage PSDs.”
