FireHost Closes Series A Round Of Financing
Company prepares to roll out new secure hosting solution for SMBs
March 12, 2010
PRESS RELEASE
(DALLAS, TX " March 11, 2010) -- FireHost, a secure Web hosting company, today announces it has closed its Series A funding round totaling $2 million. The company has been earning revenue at a 40 percent growth rate, quarter over quarter, since its marketing launch in June 2009. This initial infusion of capital was raised solely to help the company swiftly expand its team in the areas of IT, sales and marketing and build out its infrastructure in order to meet tremendous demand. FireHost opened the round to highly experienced technology entrepreneurs and investors around the Southwest, such as Pat Sullivan of ACT!, SalesLogix, and Flypaper, and Doug Ducey of iMemories and Cold Stone Creamery. FireHost was able to close the round in under three months.
"The investors who came to the table to participate in the round are incredibly accomplished and seasoned entrepreneurs. Each one has been generous enough to not only invest, but also give us the benefit of their mentorship. In the end, both will pay off for this company," said Chris Drake, founder and CEO FireHost. "I'm proud to say this was a very easy round to close."
FireHost has taken a unique and aggressive approach to secure Web hosting. The company garnered a lot of attention last summer when it agreed to host the Web site of known hacker Kevin Mitnick, after his own site suffered a series of embarrassing hacks that were widely publicized. After being dropped by his hosting company and refused by others, FireHost stepped up to the plate. In eight months, FireHost has mitigated nearly 1,500 hack attempts a week on Mitnick's site and has kept him free from attacks. The company has since been sought out by other companies that have "high target" Web sites, and this spring was named a CODiE Award Finalist for its superior security offering.
"The need for secure hosting is apparent, and the market opportunity here is simply huge," said Ray Croghan, one of the lead investors in this round. "Add in a CEO like Chris Drake, and this company has a very compelling set of assets in which to invest. I fully expect to see continued and fast growth from FireHost."
FireHost has solidified its spot as a leading secure Web hosting company that provides companies a premium-level of protection from today's sophisticated hackers, viruses and intruders. The company successfully protects sites and applications for SMBs that require maximum uptime and application availability. This includes E-commerce sites, SaaS applications that need to meet HIPAA and PCI compliance standards, and other Web sites that house critical data.
FireHost is planning to launch in upcoming weeks a new offering that combines the best of dedicated and cloud hosting into one, totally secure, and very affordable solution for companies of all sizes.
