CRU-DataPort Releases DataPort 10 Secure Data Protection Solution
Rugged enclosure enables a hard disk drive to be removed, or hot-swapped, for data backup, transporting, and archiving

PRESS RELEASE
President Obama's choice for chief technology officer, Aneesh Chopra, recently reiterated Obama's call for the private sector to help government innovation stating "it is imperative to harness the power of technology to advance the economy". CRU-DataPort is contributing to the solution with the announcement of new digital forensics, data security and data storage products, including hardware-based encryption, a portable drive imager, and a write-blocked forensic tool.
Hardware-based encryption makes the new CRU DataPort 10 Secure an ideal solution for protecting sensitive data on a HDD. This rugged enclosure enables the drive to be removed, or "Hot-Swapped", for data backup, transporting and archiving; while a government approved AES 128 high-speed encryption processor secures the contents of the entire drive without affecting computer performance.
DataPort 10 Secure is a high-performance access control and encryption system that will safeguard the privacy of data. The cutting-edge technology of the DataPort 10 Secure offers military-grade protection with 128 bit AES encryption. The DataPort 10 Secure has a real-time processor that encrypts the entire disk content bit by bit—including the boot sector, temp files, virtual memory, and operating system—without degrading performance. The DataPort 10 Secure is completely transparent to users as there are no commands, logins or graphical user interfaces to contend with.
The DataPort 10 Secure works with all operating systems and does not require any device drivers. The DataPort 10 Secure uses a FIPS approved real-time hardware encryption and decryption engine. These algorithms are certified to provide reliable security; at full strength it is virtually impossible to access the encrypted data by guessing or deriving the right AES Encryption key. Since everything on the disk is encrypted, data is safe even if attackers try to boot from their own disk, or move your disk to an unprotected machine.
The DataPort 10 Secure was designed to work with standard DataPort 10 SATA carriers. Because the hardware encryption engine is on the frame, a carrier with a SATA drive can be used with existing DataPort 10 carriers. The frame and Security Key (which provides the secret electronic code) used to encrypt the hard drive can be used with multiple DataPort 10 carriers. Additionally, multiple users can securely use the same PC by each having their own DataPort 10 carrier and a unique Security Key. The DataPort 10 Secure design allows you to encrypt your data while still retaining the mobility and security provided by your DataPort.
