State of Minnesota selects Check Point's data security solutions to protect sensitive data
REDWOOD CITY, Calif. -- Check Point® Software Technologies Ltd. (Nasdaq:CHKP), the worldwide leader in securing the Internet, today announced that the state of Minnesota’s Office of Enterprise Technology (OET) has selected the Pointsec PC full-disk encryption solution to secure laptops and PCs and Pointsec Protector to secure removable media devices, ensuring that all data is completely protected, even if a device is lost or stolen. The contract with the State of Minnesota makes Pointsec PC available to state and local government, public schools and higher education institutions under a single contract.
“Protecting sensitive data across thousands of network endpoints for the state of Minnesota attests to the flexibility and strength of our full-disk encryption solutions,” said Marty Leamy, vice president of field operations for Check Point Software Technologies. “We are extremely pleased that Minnesota has selected Check Point as one of its encryption vendors for both government agencies and educational facilities.”
Founded in July 2005, Minnesota’s OET provides oversight, leadership, and direction for information and telecommunications technology policy and the management, delivery, and security of information and telecommunications technology systems and services in state government. It also manages strategic investments in information and telecommunications technology systems and services to ensure sufficient access to and efficient delivery of government services.
“The endless rash of data breaches affecting major corporations and government agencies over the past two years has served as a major catalyst for conducting a full-scale evaluation of the market-leading full-disk encryption solutions available today,” said Chris Buse, chief information security officer for the State. “Because our facilities are in disparate locations state-wide, we knew we needed an encryption solution that could be easily deployed and managed across a distributed computing environment. Our goal was to negotiate a contract that met the requirements established by a cross-agency review team and under which many government entities can purchase the tools they need.”
