BlueCat To Demo New DNSSEC Functionality At DISA Customer Partnership Conference
Company will also demonstrate new virtual appliances that enhance BlueCat's existing IPAM and DNS/DHCP functionality

PRESS RELEASE
Anaheim, California and Toronto, Ontario -- April 16, 2009 -- BlueCat Networks, the IPAM Intelligence Company, will demonstrate new OMB Mandate- and NIST-Compliant DNSSEC functionality for its Proteus IPAM and Adonis DNS/DHCP solutions at the AFCEA (Armed Forces Communications & Electronics Association) Technology Showcase (Booth 575) being held from April 20-24 as part of the DISA Customer Partnership Conference in Anaheim, California. BlueCat will also demonstrate new virtual appliances that enhance BlueCat's existing IPAM and DNS/DHCP functionality by reducing operational costs and accelerating deployment.
Developed to meet the recommendations outlined by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in Special Publication 800-81 of its 'Secure Domain Name System (DNS) Deployment Guide,' BlueCat's DNSSEC functionality makes it simple for any U.S. government, U.S. military and/or affiliated contractors/partners to comply with U.S. federal government DNSSEC standards and mandates - including the OMB M-08-23 memorandum which requires U.S. federal government agencies to add DNSSEC cryptographic authentication functionality to DNS servers by December, 2009.
BlueCat's new DNSSEC functionality includes both the ability to host DNSSEC-enabled data for an agency and validate other agencies' DNSSEC-enabled data. BlueCat supports all required resource records and tools needed to provide DNSSEC functionality for hosted authoritative domains. Customers need only generate Zone Signing Keys (ZSK) and Key Signing Keys (KSK) for a zone, using BlueCat's key-generation tools, and deploy. DNSSEC signatures and records are automatically generated and configured, providing an easy path to enable DNSSEC for any zone. In addition to this, BlueCat provides key expiration tools to proactively notify customers of impending key expirations, giving customers the time they need to generate and deploy additional key records.
In addition to this, BlueCat provides the ability to validate other DNSSEC-enabled records. Organizations can easily configure Trust Anchors, which are used to validate responses from other authoritative name servers. Trust Anchors are configurable at a server level using DNS Options, where multiple Trust Anchors can be configured using their zone name and public KSK data.
BlueCat will also be demonstrating its new virtual appliances at booth 575. Ideal for organizations that have implemented a virtual infrastructure, the new virtual appliances enable organizations to benefit from BlueCat's existing IPAM and DNS/DHCP functionality without installing hardware - making it easier than ever before to accelerate deployment and reduce costs. Advantages include the ability to rapidly provision DNS/DHCP for capacity handling and relocate DNS/DHCP services from one server to another for disaster recovery support - all without having to install any additional physical systems.
Just like BlueCat's market-leading physical appliances, BlueCat's virtual appliances integrate with Microsoft's Active Directory to completely eliminate network accessibility problems by making it simple and secure to centrally deploy, manage, monitor and audit IP addresses across an entire organization from a single web-based interface. Organizations are increasingly turning to BlueCat as the proliferation of IP-enabled devices, such as VoIP phones, RFID and wireless is making it impossible for organizations to continue managing IP addresses with spreadsheets and homegrown solutions.
"As the leader in DNSSEC innovation, BlueCat is proud to be demonstrating new DNSSEC functionality that will make it simpler than ever before to fully comply with all U.S. federal government standards," said Brian Filler, Director, U.S. Public Sector Partners for BlueCat Networks' dedicated U.S. Public Sector Group in Reston, Virginia. "Visitors to the BlueCat booth will also see how our new virtual appliances enable organizations to benefit from our market-leading IPAM and DNS/DHCP technology without having to install hardware - saving power, reducing operational costs and accelerating deployment."
