PRESS RELEASE

NEW YORK, October 12, 2009 Application Security, Inc., the leading provider of database security, risk and compliance (SRC) solutions, today launched a new, original dramatic Web film series entitled "The Unprotected." Echoing the gritty, fast-paced, dramatic style of "The Wire" and "24", the five-part "webisodic" series highlights real world database security, risk and compliance issues that enterprise organizations face every day. "The Unprotected" is the first film project developed by Application Security, Inc. The trailer can be viewed immediately and the pilot episode will debut on October 19. The saga will continue with the weekly release of new "webisodes" through mid-November. "The Unprotected" can be viewed online at www.theunprotected.net.

"'The Unprotected' illuminates the sobering fact that database security is no longer a 'nice-to-have,'" said Thom VanHorn, Vice President of Global Marketing at Application Security, Inc. "Today's regulatory environment and the fact that the database is squarely in the crosshairs of hackers has made it a 'must-have'. Organizations are suffering from a false sense of security and compliance. This is evidenced by the fact that 56 percent of organizations were breached last year, and 40 percent of organizations fail security audits on a regular basis. We have no doubt that highlighting real business scenarios -- in a way that's entertaining and educational -- will help raise visibility and spur action on this critical issue."

"The Unprotected" tells the story of Greencrest Financial, a financial services firm that must achieve compliance by the end of the quarter. Unfortunately, not only is Greencrest failing its audit, but to make matters worse, the firm's credit card table is suddenly hacked, compromising tens of thousands of sensitive customer records. While "The Unprotected" features professional actors (with the exception of star Danny Guerrier, as Wesley the Senior DBA, who is a QA tester with Application Security, Inc. making his professional acting debut), the project was developed in-house by Application Security, Inc. employees.

"The Unprotected" was written by award-winning screenwriter (and Application Security, Inc. veteran) Aaron F. Schnore, who also penned the script for the feature film "Inside a Change," (directed by Rik Cordero) winner of the Best Picture award at the 2009 HBO New York International Latino Film Festival. "The Unprotected" was directed by Jorge Rivera, also a long-time Application Security, Inc. employee, who is best known for co-producing and co-writing the award winning psychological horror short film "Rhyme Animal " (also co-produced and co-written with Schnore).

According to Jorge Rivera: "There's no difference between what we're portraying on film with Greencrest Financial and what real organizations experience. 'The Unprotected' clearly shows why organizations continue to struggle with database security, risk, and compliance and how they can proactively address these problems."
