PRESS RELEASE
HOUSTON " April 21, 2009 " Alert Logic today announced that it has released a major update to Alert Logic Log ManagerTM, the industry's first cloud-based log management solution. Version 2.0 of Alert Logic Log Manager features a new grid-based storage architecture as well as improved search and reporting capabilities.
The latest version of Log Manager delivers unprecedented speed when searching through and analyzing large archives of log data. The collection and analysis of log data for compliance, security, availability and performance has historically been a cumbersome and difficult task. Regulations like PCI DSS, for example, require that a minimum of one year of log data be retained and available for analysis. Searches for specific information can be very time consuming. Log Manager 2.0's new storage architecture allows users to rapidly search log data up to a year old, and beyond. Compliance reporting and analysis becomes quick and easy.
Alert Logic Log Manager 2.0's innovative new storage architecture is designed specifically to take advantage of the efficiencies of the cloud-based computing model. Combined with the performance of Log Manager's grid computing infrastructure introduced last year, Alert Logic has delivered on its vision of high performance log management and analysis in the cloud. When paired with Alert Logic's Threat Manager, Alert Logic Log Manager provides comprehensive coverage to companies that seek an easy and affordable way to achieve compliance with PCI DSS and other regulations.
"The ability to search and analyze a year's worth of log data is an integral part of complying with PCI DSS", said Gene Golovinsky, Alert Logic's vice president of research and development. "Log Manager's new storage architecture, coupled with the cloud-based computing delivery model, should officially mark the obsolescence of older, appliance-based log management solutions."
"In-the-cloud log management is an excellent application of the cloud computing model", said Nick Selby, vice president and Research Director for Enterprise Security at analyst firm The 451 Group. "Enterprise end users are focused on mining their log data for security and compliance insight, and searching those large data sets can be very processing intensive. A well-designed and -deployed grid computing infrastructure in the cloud can help solve this problem."
Log Manager 2.0's improved search and reporting capability enables users to take full advantage of the blazing fast performance. Searching large quantities of log messages for useful information can be cumbersome and slow with other solutions. Log Manager 2.0's new one-click filtering makes it easy to find the information you need even if you are not a log expert.
