AEP Networks, VASCO Team Up In Security For Remote And Mobile Workers
Combination of offerings provides end-to-end security to ensure data privacy

PRESS RELEASE
SOMERSET, NJ, Apr 12, 2010 (MARKETWIRE via COMTEX) -- AEP Networks, a leader in secure communications and networking, and VASCO Data Security, Inc. (VDSI 7.80, -0.07, -0.89%) , a leading software security company specializing in authentication products, today announced a limited time promotional offering that combines AEP Netilla Secure Access Gateway with VASCO DIGIPASS(R) authenticators. Starting today, Netilla customers in North America will receive two complimentary VASCO DIGIPASS authenticators. And, VASCO customers are offered a free download of the Netilla Virtual Edition with two user licenses. The combination of these offerings provides end-to-end security to ensure data privacy, as well as support for HIPAA, Sarbanes-Oxley, and FDIC mandates for two-factor authentication. To kick off this partnership, a special discount will also be offered for the DIGIPASS Authenticators for AEP Netilla.
An application access gateway that facilitates secure, Web browser access to a broad range of business applications, Netilla SSL VPN enables remote users to quickly and securely reach virtually any application in today's IT environment, including Microsoft Outlook, Windows Terminal Servers and server-based applications, as well as client/server applications over an SSL tunnel. Also available in a virtual edition, Netilla VE is software-based, streamlining secure remote application access installations on virtual server offerings such as VMware(R) ESX and giving enterprise customers and services providers the ability to quickly spin-up new remote access projects on-demand within an existing virtualized server infrastructure without requiring new appliance hardware.
VASCO's DIGIPASS authenticators properly authenticate users through the use of one-time passwords (OTP), thus safeguarding access to e-business and e-banking applications and corporate networks and allowing for more secure business transactions. The DIGIPASS plug-in is natively integrated into the Netilla product line, allowing simplified user management from one database without the need for an additional server. In order to activate VASCO's strong authentication for Netilla, customers simply need to launch the CD-ROM provided with the promotional package. AEP Networks' customers can easily roll out VASCO's strong authentication solution to their entire user population by acquiring additional DIGIPASS authenticators.
Paul Spencer, General Manager for AEP Networks, said, "The inclusion of VASCO's authenticators with our Netilla product family will enable resellers to give their customers first-hand experience with two-factor authentication. This approach is a win-win for both resellers and customers, as sourcing two-factor authentication from one reliable solution that is natively integrated streamlines vendor management as well as eliminates the cost of a separate authentication server."
He continued, "The proliferation of remote and mobile workers has put an extreme burden on IT departments. The ability to give remote workers access to information and applications while meeting the most stringent security standards necessitates the strong authentication offered by AEP and VASCO."
"The use of two-factor authentication for remote access to corporate networks and applications significantly improves data security. VASCO uses its longstanding expertise together with other market leaders to offer secure solutions. Furthermore, we rely on our distributors and resellers to promote our solutions with other vendors," said Jan Valcke, President and COO at VASCO Data Security.
Two-factor authentication is a method of verifying a user's identify that requires at least two elements: something a user knows -- such as a PIN -- and something a user has -- such as a VASCO DIGIPASS authenticator. By augmenting insecure personal passwords with strong, constantly changing passwords that cannot be reused at the next login, access security is improved without compromising user convenience.
VASCO DIGIPASS strong authentication accommodates as few as two or as many as 10,000+ users on the same backend platform, without an infrastructure overhaul.
