PRESS RELEASE
Palo Alto, CA – June 2, 2010 — Accellion, Inc. today announced the industry’s first secure file transfer solution for the Microsoft Business Productivity Infrastructure (BPI) and Business Productivity Online Suite (BPOS) allowing Microsoft SharePoint, OCS and Outlook users to easily and securely share digital information. Today’s announcement extends the Accellion solution to include new plug-ins for Microsoft Outlook 2010, Microsoft SharePoint 2010, and Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 R2 (OCS) for both on-premise and cloud environments.
Accellion plug-ins for Microsoft Outlook, SharePoint and OCS enable business users to securely send files to coworkers, remote users, customers or partners from within the Microsoft business applications. “Quick and easy access to information is essential for business collaboration, but protection of intellectual property and meeting compliance requirements is crucial,” said Yorgen Edholm, president and CEO of Accellion. “By integrating the Accellion Secure File Transfer solution across Microsoft’s BPI, enterprise organizations can now protect their intellectual property and achieve compliance by providing users with an easily accessible way to move confidential digital information.”
According to Gartner Senior Research Analyst, Thomas Skybakmoen, “integration of secure file transfer capabilities with desktop applications makes file transfer more accessible to business users, enabling enterprises to increase data security and prevent costly data breaches. Expanded availability and accessibility of secure file transfer is fueling the growth of the managed file transfer market."
Accellion enhances the communications and collaboration experience provided within Microsoft SharePoint, OCS and Outlook experience by seamlessly adding secure file transfer capability to the native file transfer capability provided within these products. Anyone who knows how to use an e-mail paperclip within Microsoft Outlook, or a pull-down menu within SharePoint and OCS can now access Accellion Secure File Transfer, thereby enhancing enterprise data security and compliance.
The Accellion Secure File Transfer solution allows enterprises and government agencies to securely send and receive files and folders up to 20GB. Encryption and business-level authentication validates recipients so confidential information is not overexposed. Accellion Secure File Transfer also provides an audit trail with the tracking and reporting necessary to demonstrate compliance. The Accellion Secure File Transfer solution integrates both on-premise and off-premise deployment options for cloud and virtual environments, which work together seamlessly.
Accellion will be demonstrating secure file transfer plug-ins for Microsoft SharePoint, Microsoft Office Communications Server and Microsoft Outlook at Microsoft TechEd North America 2010 in New Orleans on June 7 – 10, 2010. The new Accellion Microsoft BPI plug-ins will be sold through Microsoft Partners and directly by Accellion and will be generally available in September 2010. Interested Microsoft Partners should contact Accellion at [email protected] for further information.
