vArmour Unveils Industry-Wide Pathway to a New Security Architecture for Multi-Clouds
Multi-Cloud Security Architecture offers Framework to Help Organizations Plan and Adopt New Security Capabilities as they Embrace Multi-Clouds

PRESS RELEASE
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. – November 17, 2015 -- vArmour, the data center security company that enables organizations to protect their virtualized and cloud assets, today announced development of the Multi-Cloud Security Architecture (MCSA), a vendor-agnostic framework for securing hybrid cloud infrastructure. The industry-wide pathway to this new security architecture was developed in partnership with customers, technology partners, along with industry analysts.
Organizations in every vertical are harnessing the power and agility of clouds to accelerate innovation and service delivery. From industry estimates, more than 85 percent of all workloads will be processed by cloud data centers by 2019₁. Even advanced attackers are adopting these agile models of IT, developing cyber threat tools in no time and syndicating them across a brokered attacker ecosystem. The trend toward multi-cloud infrastructure and increased attacker sophistication creates an opportunity for security professionals to build a security architecture that goes beyond existing perimeter-centric models, developed before the cloud era. The Multi-Cloud Security Architecture articulates a new model for security, built and optimized for cloud computing today and into the future.
Organizations across multiple industries contributed to the development of the Multi-Cloud Security Architecture. “Our No. 1 priority is serving our patients with the best care possible, which means keeping their data safe with the most cutting-edge security solutions,” said Jon Russell, CIO at John Muir Health. “As healthcare is undergoing a massive digital transformation with IT acting as the underpinning for this shift, we are forced to re-think our security architecture to protect patient information without sacrificing speed for service delivery. And vArmour has outlined a visionary path to make this a reality.”
The pathway to Multi-Cloud Security Architecture will help IT and security leaders develop their short and long-term strategy to secure their entire cloud infrastructure. Organizations have invested heavily in traditional perimeter security, but this is only the start — now, organizations will need to move controls closer to assets, creating an intelligent system over time that is dynamic, efficient and autonomic. “There is a pressing need for this type of multi-cloud security architecture, as security and IT teams are in the process of learning what to do or how to do it,” said Jon Oltsik, principal analyst at ESG. “vArmour has a vision and growing experience that can help organizations think differently about security architecture in this new heterogeneous cloud world, and a provide a pathway to get there.”
“Our customers have strategies to embrace private and public clouds, but do not have a clear path to secure that multi-cloud infrastructure,” said Marc Woolward, chief technology officer at vArmour. “We’re excited to partner with industry thought leaders, customers and technology partners to define a new architecture for secure multi-clouds, and also to be the company to develop some of the key technologies that enable it.”

In support of the Multi-Cloud Security Architecture, vArmour today announced new enhancements to the vArmour DSS Distributed Security System, including:
● vArmour DSS SharedDefense: vArmour DSS is now continuously updated with vArmour’s global view of cloud attacks, behavioral anomalies, and laterally-moving threats across customer environments, enabling early detection and prevention of multi-cloud attacks.
● New Threat Analytics, Dashboards and Reporting: vArmour DSS Analytics now includes deeper analytics and search capabilities, new dashboards and threat visualizations, and custom reporting that empower security analysts to rapidly identify anomalous and malicious behaviors across multi-cloud environments.
● New Private Cloud Support: vArmour DSS and Nuage Networks Virtual Services Platform (VSP) now deliver visibility and micro-segmentation of workloads in OpenStack KVM private clouds.
“Customers come to us for the freedom of choice and flexibility we provide for software-defined networking as they build out their private multi-cloud environments,” said Charles Ferland, vice president of business development at Nuage Networks. “Our integration with vArmour extends this same freedom to security in OpenStack; together, we provide consistent, policy-driven network and security controls for micro-segmentation in scalable, multi-cloud deployments that can operate independent of the underlying infrastructure."
In addition to the introduction of vArmour Invited Partners for channel partners, vArmour announced today the vArmour Alliance Partner Program that brings together an ecosystem of technology partners that share the common vision for the Multi-Cloud Security Architecture. vArmour Alliance Partners include: Backblaze, BrightPoint Security, Centrify, Nuage Networks, Nutanix, RiskIQ, Synack and VMTurbo.
