PRESS RELEASE

Rolling Meadows, IL, USA (19 April 2016)—Global IT and cybersecurity association ISACA is offering its new five-day CSX Practitioner Boot Camp 16-20 May in New York. The boot camp provides cybersecurity professionals seeking a more thorough mastery of hands-on skills—and organizations seeking to develop their cyber workforces—an accelerated opportunity to advance their training.

ISACA is offering the boot camp through its Cybersecurity Nexus (CSX) for those preparing for the CSX Practitioner (CSXP) certification or looking to enhance their practical skills.

“The CSX Practitioner Boot Camp is a valuable opportunity for cybersecurity professionals to efficiently gain hands-on skills to help them protect and defend their enterprises,” said Shannon Donahue, Ph.D., CISM, director of cybersecurity practices at ISACA. “In just five days, attendees will make major gains in their training that will set them on a path toward certification and career advancement.”

The award-winning CSXP certification is the first vendor-neutral, performance-based certification for cybersecurity professionals. The exam measures cybersecurity proficiency in a virtual lab environment using real-world scenarios. ISACA’s 2016 Cybersecurity Snapshot showed that nearly 8 in 10 respondents prefer to hire a candidate who holds a performance-based certification.

Boot Camp classes consist of hands-on lab exercises in addition to instruction on key cybersecurity concepts. The immersive training will prepare students for five key cybersecurity responsibilities:

·         Identify: Identification, assessment and remediation of threats and vulnerabilities in internal and external frameworks

·         Protect: Implementation of cybersecurity controls to protect a system for identified threats

·         Detect: Detection of network and system incidents, events and compromise indicators and assessment of potential damage

·         Respond: Execution of comprehensive incident response plans and mitigation of cyber incidents

·         Recover: Recovery from incidents and disasters, including post-incident response documentation and implementation of continuity plans

CSXP Boot Camp is intended for cybersecurity professionals with a minimum of 1 to 5 years of experience who already are proficient in concepts such as network scanning, centralized monitoring, vulnerability scanning, compromise indicators, packet analysis and user account controls.

Boot Camp attendees will receive a complimentary six-month subscription to a virtual cyber lab so they can continue enhancing their technical skills.

Upcoming Boot Camp courses will be offered at additional US locations in 2016:

·         Denver, Colorado (13-17 June)

·         San Francisco, California (20-24 June)
