STAMFORD, Conn. -- Protegrity Corporation, a leading provider of data security management solutions to the enterprise, has been awarded United States Patent 7,120,933, a method for detecting intrusion in a database managed by an access control system. Monitoring access rates for each user or group of users enables the system to respond to threats by notifying the access control to alter authorization, denying the access request before any information is transmitted to the user.
Access rates may be defined as the number of records a user may access at one time, or the number of records accessed over a certain period of time. Results may address a single query exceeding the allowed limit, or a number of smaller queries, individually allowed, but when aggregated, blocked.
Protegrity plans to add this new capability to the Defiance DPS family of data protection software solutions, extending customers management and control of critical data re-sources.
When we implement this patent in Defiance, our customers will gain yet another method for integrating and delivering enterprise-wide data security, said Gordon Rapkin, presi-dent & CEO of Protegrity. Providing access controls with input from the database gives clients more protection in real-time to help stop bad actors.
