LulzSec today is tweeting that the distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks, which have effectively stopped the operations of Minecraft and EVE, are part of something called "Titanic Takeover Tuesday."
The Escapist, a gaming publication, also reportedly has been affected. In addition, LulzSec has tweeted that it has attacked the League of Legends site.
In each case, LulzSec said it has "taken out" the login servers of the respective sites. EVE Online is still offline.
CCP Games, which makes EVE Online, and Notch, which offers Minecraft, have both confirmed on their Twitter feeds that they are under attack and are working to fix the problem as soon as possible. The Minecraft site is currently operational after a brief outage, according to reports.
