FBI Investigating St. Louis Cardinals For Allegedly Hacking Houston Astros
Cyber criminals, nation-states, and now professional baseball teams are apparently getting into the hacking game.

Baseball has had its gambling and steroid scandals, but now one of Major League Baseball's most winning teams -- the St. Louis Cardinals -- is being investigated by the FBI for hacking into databases of the Houston Astros, The New York Times reported today.
Among the information compromised in the Astros' databases was intelligence on trades, proprietary statistics, and scouting reports.
An MLB spokesperson told the Times that it “has been aware of and has fully cooperated with the federal investigation into the illegal breach of the Astros’ baseball operations database."
The hack opens a new chapter in cyber espionage, a phenomenon mostly associated with nation-state spying. Now it appears to be part of the game for sports teams trying to gain an advantage.
