SEATTLE -- Leading SSL VPN company Aventail Corp. is partnering with AttachmateWRQ, a market-leading terminal emulation company. Aventail is integrating a special edition of AttachmateWRQ’s terminal emulation software, Reflection® for the Web, into its SSL VPN to provide secure remote access to host-based applications. The new solution, called Aventail Host Access Modules, is available immediately as an add-on feature with any of Aventail’s family of SSL VPN appliances.

With this strategic partnership, Aventail is the only SSL VPN to provide commercial-grade terminal emulation from any device, managed or unmanaged. Aventail now offers the most extensive application reach in the remote access market, providing transparent, clientless access to Web-based, client/server, file shares, server-based, and host-based applications.

Aventail enables this universal application access via a single solution, allowing administrators to manage all users and applications with a centralized policy model, and giving users access to all applications from the same gateway. All other VPNs require separate access gateways or have disparate policy models for Web-based, client/server, server-based, or host-based application access.

"The Aventail-AttachmateWRQ partnership makes sense for customers, particularly because businesses are under regulatory pressure to protect confidential information and much of that information resides on mainframe systems,” said Randy Robinson, senior vice president of products and marketing for AttachmateWRQ. “Through our alliance, customers get AttachmateWRQ’s mainframe access experience and Aventail's secure remote access expertise together in one package."

The AttachmateWRQ and Aventail solution combines best-of-breed technologies from two market leaders in their respective industries. AttachmateWRQ Reflection for the Web is the best thin-client host access product on the market, providing the most reliable, high-performing access to host data. Aventail Smart SSL VPNs are the best-of-breed remote access solution, delivering the easiest to use and control solution, with access to more applications from more devices via any network environment. Both companies are ranked by top analyst firms as leaders and industry pioneers.

“Many of Aventail’s large enterprise customers have a mainframe infrastructure, and as they scale their remote access deployments, they need to be able to offer their remote users access to these and other host-based applications,” said Randy Boroughs, senior director, product management, Aventail. “Aventail chose to partner with AttachmateWRQ because it offers the best thin-client host access product on the market, allowing us to give our customers a market-proven solution that easily extends application reach to these host-based resources.”
