Mimecast Buys MessageControl
The email security provider brings into its fold social engineering and human identity capabilities.
Email and data security company Mimecast has announced its acquisition of eTorch, better known as MessageControl. MessageControl specializes in defending against social engineering and human identity attacks by identifying anomalous behaviors and providing real-time warnings about suspicious email activity.
According to Mimecast, the additional capabilities will provide enhanced email security to users of Microsoft 365 and other productivity applications. In a statement, the company noted the first half of 2020 had seen a dramatic increase in spam and phishing attacks -- an increase that corporate executives view as worrisome in an era when more employees than usual are working outside the corporate perimeter.
Financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed. However, Mimecast did report the deal was not expected to have a material financial impact to its fiscal 2021 revenue or adjusted EBITDA.
