In a "restorative justice" settlement, a hacker who broke into a Derbyshire, UK company’s network will now work for his victim to strengthen its cybersecurity and safeguard it from breaches, reports Burton Mail. The 24-year-old London hacker had stolen credentials from social media tools to illegally access the organization’s server.

Following an agreement between the Derbyshire police and the victim, no legal action was taken against the hacker after he was arrested by the Metropolitan Police in return for providing cybersecurity advice to his victim.

"It is important to raise awareness of these types of activities as regardless of computer skills, curiosity or good intentions, Computer Misuse Act offences are still being committed,” said Detective Constable Mick Donegan of Derbyshire Cybercrime Unit.
