BROOMFIELD, Colo. and HAMBURG, Germany, Aug. 13, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Webroot, a leader in cloud-based security intelligence solutions, today announced a strategic partnership with gateprotect, the German network security specialist, to offer real-time endpoint protection with gateprotect's Next Generation Firewall appliances. The combination of Webroot SecureAnywhere(r) Business - Endpoint Protection with gateprotect's next generation network security strengthens protection from every endpoint to any network boundary while simplifying management.

Today, organizations face new challenges in protecting users and IT infrastructure from complex and targeted security threats like advanced persistent threats and phishing attacks. As workforces have become distributed, IT organizations are challenged with maintaining real-time protection regardless of whether employees are within the corporate firewall, and maintaining this security increases the strain on IT organizations already stretched for resources.

"The partnership with Webroot is a significant milestone in gateprotect's ten-year company history," said Dr. Peter Smeets, CEO at gateprotect. "Our innovative IT security solutions made in Germany have been honored with several international awards, and will be enhanced by the addition of endpoint security thanks to the cooperation with Webroot. We view the cooperation as a long-term strategic enrichment and as a basis for the envisioned implementation of the joint product initiatives. Furthermore, it is intellectually inspiring to be in a constant exchange with a highly innovative and well respected US-based Security-as-a-Service company."

Through this partnership, gateprotect's combined solution will address the need for persistent protection inside and outside the network perimeter, and will simplify administration of the joint solutions. gateprotect and Webroot collaborate to deliver an end-to-end, holistic approach to complete security, including next generation UTM firewall, multi-layer anti-malware, data theft prevention, application control and web filtering with integrated management encompassing both the network and endpoint layers.

"The security landscape has changed dramatically. As a result, businesses are demanding a more comprehensive approach to security and management, with more attention being placed on maintaining protection as the network perimeter expands," said Dick Williams, CEO at Webroot. "This partnership will leverage each company's key technologies to deliver an end-to-end solution to help businesses solve these complex security challenges. The combined solution enables their users to work more flexibly and extend protection beyond their network perimeter. Further, this agreement brings together the industry's best innovation teams to anticipate and protect against the latest threats."
