Pro-Israeli Site Recruiting Voluntary Bot Militia To Attack Hamas Websites

A pro-Israeli Website called "Help Israel Win" is distributing a distributed denial-of-service (DDOS) tool to computer recruits to help hack pro-Hamas Websites in a cyberwarfare-style botnet.

The so-called "Patriot" DDOS tool -- like traditional botware -- includes remote updates and can be uninstalled after the conflict is over, according to a published report.

"We created a project that unites the computer capabilities of many people around the world. Our goal is to use this power in order to disrupt our enemy's efforts to destroy the state of Israel. The more support we get, the efficient we are!" says a post on the Help Israel Win site. The site says its organizers are students.

Since the Gaza conflict began, Israelis reportedly have been using blogs, Twitter, and YouTube posts to help promote their cause. Meanwhile, anti-Israeli activists have defaced hundreds of Israeli Websites during the past weeks. The cyberwarfare began not long after Israel's bombing of Gaza.
