DENVER -- Simplicita, the company that frees carrier networks from zombies, today announced that it has raised $2.1 million in Series A venture capital financing. The funds will be used for sales and marketing of the company's just released software product, ZBX, that helps broadband Internet Service Providers (ISPs) identify, isolate and fix zombie-infected computers on their networks. The round was led by FFP Holdings, a Houston-based limited partnership that focuses on startup and early stage technology companies based in Texas and Colorado. Seed funding for ZBX research and development was supplied by the company's founders.

Simplicita's management team has built several successful internet infrastructure companies including bCandid (acquired by Software.com), MatchLogic (acquired by Excite), and RustNet (acquired by Verio). The company also announced that service provider industry veteran Jon Shantz has joined its board of directors. Shantz has held executive management positions with Openwave Systems, Cisco Systems, Bell Labs and Bellcore, as well as British Telecom. Shantz is also on the board of Bridgewater Systems, True Context and Accelere

"The zombie and Botnet threat is a huge operational problem for carriers and increasingly dangerous security risk for consumers," said Frank Bergen, president and CEO of Simplicita. "Today, the only way for carriers to remove zombies from their networks is through cost-prohibitive manual intervention and help desk calls to subscribers. Simplicita is about to change all that by automating the complete detect and repair process for infected PCs."
