MENDHAM, N.J. -- NETRAGARD, one of the industry’s leading advanced network security firms, announced today that its Strategic Reconnaissance Team (SRT) uncovered two potentially critical vulnerabilities with Hewlett-Packard’s Tru64 Operating System in mid July of 2006. These vulnerabilities existed within the dtmail binary and the system library called libpthread. Netragard notified HP of the system’s weakness and HP immediately began the patch development process. Roughly 60 days after notification HP had released the patches.

Vulnerabilities of this kind can lead to catastrophic system issues including stolen financial information and system outages. We strongly recommend that companies using HP’s Tru64 Operating System immediately download the security patch from HP’s website.” he noted.
