PRESS RELEASE

ST. PAUL, Minn., July 9, 2009 -- Shavlik Technologies, LLC, the market leader in simplifying and automating critical IT security and operations, today announced the availability of Shavlik NetChk' Protect 7. This latest release of Shavlik's industry leading patch management solution gives customers a single Agent for patch management and antivirus + antispyware. The extremely flexible NetChk Agent reduces the management overhead required by deploying and maintaining multiple agents for these critical IT operations.

"Ensuring systems are fully patched and properly configured is effective against most of the known exploits. But when a patch isn't available, antivirus plus antispyware defenses are needed. We are excited to offer an integrated antivirus engine to provide our customers with comprehensive protection against today's threats. By integrating antivirus and antispyware into a mature enterprise product such as ours customers get the best of both worlds and a great way to increase their security while at the same time reducing workloads, vendors, and costs, creating a classic win-win," said Mark Shavlik, CEO, Shavlik Technologies.

NetChk Protect 7 addresses common complaints about existing, commoditized antivirus solutions whose technology is antiquated, slow, and expensive. Similar to Microsoft Corporation's free antivirus offering, Shavlik is making its enterprise-ready antivirus + antispyware capability available to its customers for no additional charge as part of its introduction to the markets.

Immediate Relief for New Microsoft Zero-Day ActiveX Control Flaw Microsoft's Security Advisory 972890 addresses a new vulnerability in a Microsoft Video ActiveX Control affecting Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 that could allow remote code execution if a user browses to a malicious Web page. NetChk Protect offers the flexibility to quickly deploy the "Microsoft Fix It" tool workaround to disable the ActiveX control, using either agent or agent-based deployment depending on the needs of the enterprise.
