Why Data Privacy Matters to Consumers
A new study by Ponemon Institute on behalf of ID Experts finds that 68% of consumers have become more concerned about the privacy and security of their personal information in the past three years. According to the study, that increasing concern is the result of the growing use of social media and mobile devices, as well as a growing education and awareness over the threats to digital privacy. The two biggest concerns over lost, stolen, or misused personal data are a loss of civil liberties (56%) and identity theft (54%).
