Bracknell, 23rd July 2013

Panda Security, The Cloud Security Company, today announced that Luis Corrons, Technical Director of PandaLabs, has been re-elected to the AMTSO (Anti-Malware Testing Standards Organization) Board of Directors for an additional three-year term.

Founded in February 2008 in Bilbao, Spain, AMTSO (www.amtso.org) is an international nonprofit organization dedicated to helping improve the objectivity, quality and relevance of anti-malware technology testing. Membership comprises many of the leading independent anti-malware testers, academic institutions, publishers and security software vendors from around the world.

"We are pleased to announce the re-election of Luis Corrons. His continued involvement in AMTSO as both member and Board of Directors member has been incredibly valuable", said Simon Edwards, Chairman of the Board of Directors, AMTSO.

"I'm thrilled and honored to be re-elected to the AMTSO Board for another three-year term", explained Corrons, technical director of PandaLabs at Panda Security. "AMTSO is making great progress toward our goal of improving the testing methodologies used to evaluate anti-malware products, so that product reviews reflect product capabilities most accurately with regard to user protection".

Aims and Objectives

Since its foundation, AMTSO has been mainly known for publishing universally adopted standards and guidelines for anti-malware testing. Nevertheless, and in addition to this endeavor, the organization also wants to reinforce other original founding objectives: to promote education and awareness of issues related to anti-malware product testing, and to provide tools and resources to aid standards-based testing methodologies.

"This year AMTSO is taking huge steps in this direction, as shown by the launch of the "Feature Settings Check", the first milestone towards a brand new strategy that will revolutionize testing of anti-malware products", added Corrons.
