Vircom Offers New Email Security Virtual Machine

Adds anti-spam virtualization to its arsenal with modusGate VM software

Montreal, Canada, March 23, 2010 - Vircom Inc., experts in the email security industry, announced today it officially supports anti-spam virtualization with the modusGate(tm) VM email security software platform.

Email security products are a perfect target for virtualization. Servers and appliances are often under-utilized in terms of computing resources, and virtual machines solve this problem by allowing IT administrators to regroup multiple VM services into a single hardware server. Virtual machines can be easily scaled up and down according to the resources they require. An email security VM can grow at the same rate as an organization's mailbox count and email volume, thus maximizing the host server's utilization and reducing costs associated with power and cooling, rack and floor space, and maintenance and upgrades. They also reduce the turnaround time: a new virtual email security server can be up and running within minutes compared to hours or days for its physical counterpart. Backups and recovery can also be achieved at lower costs and redundancy and high-availability plans can be easily designed with Vircom's Blockade infrastructure.

Vircom CEO Sylvain Durocher states, "We see virtualization taking a growing space in the email security industry. Vircom has, and will continue to be, at the forefront of thought leadership with this new product offering. modusGate(tm) is an easy-to-setup and efficient anti-spam and antivirus gateway software for corporate mail servers such as Exchange. Email security virtualization is consistent with both our vision and today's IT departments' requirements."

Optimized for small and medium-sized corporate and service provider environments, modusGate(tm) VM is an email security virtual machine that runs on Windows 2003 and 2008 guest OS, and performs spam filtering for virtual and physical email servers, including Exchange 2003, 2007 and 2010.
