SIA Security Week events postponed as a result of Hurricane Sandy

SILVER SPRING, MD -- The Security Industry Association (SIA) has announced that the Securing New Ground Conference, which was scheduled for Nov. 1 and 2 in New York City, has been postponed as a result of Hurricane Sandy. The Security 500 conference, which was scheduled to run concurrently with Securing New Ground, has also been postponed.

In a message to members and conference registrants, SIA CEO Don Erickson said "SIA has been closely monitoring the developing weather situation in New York, and after consulting with the venue and our event partners, SIA has decided to postpone the Securing New Ground conference out of concern for the safety of attendees. We apologize for any inconvenience."

Registered attendees will be notified when new dates are chosen for the event.

The Conrad Hotel, the venue for Securing New Ground, announced that it is under mandatory evacuation and will be closed until Wednesday, Oct. 31.

ISC East, which was scheduled for Oct. 30 and 31, and the SIA Security Week Gala, which was scheduled for Oct. 30, have also been postponed.
