“We expect BSides Las Vegas to be our biggest event yet and we are psyched that the best and brightest in the information security industry, including leading security researchers, experts, hackers, media, analysts and more, have decided to get involved,” said Mike Dahn, Co-founder of Security BSides. “It has been amazing to see the growth of BSides this past year and we believe it will only continue to gain more traction due to the rich content and all-star speakers it attracts.”
This year, some of the most widely anticipated talks at BSides Las Vegas include:
* “Drivesploit: Circumventing both Automated AND Manual Drive-by-download Detection” by Wayne Huang * “Mobilizing the PCI Resistance: Lessons Learned from Fighting Prior Wars (SOX-404)” by Gene Kim * "Fun with VxWorks" by H.D. Moore * "SET 0.6 Release with Special PHUKD Key" by Dave Kennedy * “How to Make Network Diagrams that Don’t Suck” by Shmoocon Founder Bruce Potter * “Planes, Trains and Automobiles” by Chris Roberts
“Security BSides is not your typical conference; it is a movement. These events are all about expanding the spectrum of infosec discussions and encouraging participants to give voice, creation and refinement to the ‘next big thing’ – whatever that may be,” said Chris Nickerson, Co-founder of Security BSides.
The goal of Security BSides is to foster communication and collaboration while increasing the level of conversation. It provides a solid framework for similar conferences to be organized and hosted locally and worldwide. Just this past year alone, BSides events were hosted in Austin, Boston, Las Vegas and San Francisco. Because the events offer smaller, more intimate networking atmospheres and breakout discussions, they foster strong audience participation and overall group interaction. For those that are not able to attend BSides events, online streaming of the conferences is available.
“Unlike other conferences, BSides is meant to offer an open platform that gives security experts and industry professionals the opportunity to share ideas and insights, and develop longstanding relationships with others in the community,” said Jack Daniel, Co-founder of Security BSides. “This show is a rare opportunity for participants to directly connect and create trusted relationships with key members of the security community.”
BSides is continuing its rapid growth and has plans to host upcoming events in Kansas City, Atlanta, Dallas, Ottawa and plans for Cincinnati, Halifax and London. Prior speakers include: HD Moore, Dino Dai Zovi, Alex Hutton, Tim Keanini, Jonathan Cran, David Mortman, Val Smith, Mike Murray, Mike Bailey, Andy Ellis, Anton Chuvakin, Jack Daniel, Erin Jacobs, Jennifer Jabbusch and many more.
This year’s sponsors for BSides Las Vegas include Astaro, Barracuda Networks, BigFix, IOActive, Panda Security, Revolution Security, Terremark, TripWire and VerSprite. To get involved, please visit: http://www.securitybsides.org/
Added Dahn, "Security BSides is just like Karate Kid, NERDS, Say Anything and other 80s movies that showed individuals taking on the world and winning – our conferences empower individuals to do just that.”
