PRESS RELEASE

BALTIMORE-- SafeNet, Inc., a global leader in information security, today announced that it has teamed with NetApp, a leader in innovative storage and data management solutions, to offer a new approach to storage security solutions. This collaboration will provide customers with the ability to manage and protect their on-premise, cloud-based and virtualized data storage in a highly secure manner.

According to a Gartner report, concerns about data location, data loss, and data security (privacy) are three of the top five barriers to cloud-computing adoption. While safeguarding data in the cloud can be seen as a challenge, an effective data protection strategy that integrates cloud storage and security can safely maximize business efficiency.

“SafeNet and NetApp are working together to make data protection solutions available inside the network extendable beyond the network as customers adopt cloud-computing solutions,” said Russ Dietz, vice president and chief technology officer, SafeNet. “Working with NetApp enables us to offer data protection within the storage market. The end result is a robust security solution for customers that need persistent protection of and secure access to their data today and as they move to the cloud.”

SafeNet’s Information Lifecycle Protection Solutions combine encryption, authentication and standards-based key management to secure data throughout its lifecycle when it is at rest, in use and in motion. Customers can protect data and manage policies for databases, applications, file servers, laptops, workstations and removable media to protect identities, transactions, data and communications. Working with NetApp, the offering will be expanded to include security for storage and data management solutions supporting existing data center storage modes with the flexibility to stretch protection to emerging SaaS, public, private, and hybrid cloud delivery models. Customers could have a better return on their investment by extending their current security technology over more data types and saving on infrastructure.

“Our customers are excited about new storage technologies to deal with the explosive growth in data storage, but are concerned about maintaining ownership and control of their data,” said Tim Russell, vice president and general manager of storage security at NetApp. “By working with SafeNet, NetApp will help our customers protect their sensitive data throughout its lifecycle as they modernize their infrastructure.”

With SafeNet’s security offerings, customers can fully leverage the business benefits of on-premise, cloud or data center environments, while bolstering data ownership, compliance, and privacy. As a result, users gain confidence in how data is used and shared, which not only promotes trust but fuels new business.
