PRESS RELEASE

BEDFORD, Mass., June 24 /PRNewswire/ -- RSA, The Security Division of EMC (NYSE: EMC), today announced that it has partnered with Cisco to embed data classification technology and policies from the RSA(R) Data Loss Prevention Suite into Cisco's industry-leading Cisco IronPort(R) email security solutions. RSA's DLP technology will be fully integrated into Cisco IronPort's email security platform as a comprehensive subscription software service for helping to prevent the loss of data in motion over email. The combined solution, to be offered as RSA Email DLP for Cisco IronPort, provides accurate and easy-to-use content classification designed to discover and protect sensitive data before it leaves the enterprise through email.

The integrated RSA Email DLP solution is engineered to include a wide selection of pre-defined out-of-the-box policies maintained and updated by RSA's Information Policy and Classification Research team. With strong expertise in library science, information science and linguistics, this dedicated team of engineers and scientists employs a proven methodology to develop policies that offer best-in-class accuracy. The addition of RSA's DLP technology to Cisco IronPort's anti-spam, antivirus and encryption solutions is designed to provide customers with the most comprehensive, market-leading solution for inbound and outbound email control and security.

Additionally, customers may extend the RSA Email DLP capabilities for data-in-motion over email to data-at-rest, data-in-use and data-in-motion over web through a tight integration with the RSA Data Loss Prevention Suite, enabling data loss prevention with unified management and a common information classification and policy framework across the enterprise. This also allows customers to benefit from the comprehensive incident workflow and distributed architecture of the RSA DLP suite and achieve simplified management and lower total cost of ownership, while having comprehensive protection for data wherever it resides.

"From our perspective, DLP is a business enabler," said Erik T. Heidt, Assistant Vice President, Information Security Architect, at Fifth Third Bank. "Fifth Third Bank is seeking a built-in, rather than bolt-on, systems approach to DLP. It allows the business to continue to use data effectively while protecting our customers, business partners, and the business itself from the misuse of that data. Embedding RSA Email DLP in the Cisco IronPort email security solution provides the ability to leverage the Bank's existing investment in network infrastructure for stopping both inbound threats and outbound data loss."

According to Christian Christiansen, Program Vice President Security Products and Services at IDC, "Organizations want to utilize their investments in infrastructure for information protection whenever possible, and the integration between RSA DLP and Cisco IronPort allows customers to do exactly that. It not only lowers the total cost of ownership for the customer, but also helps them build on a systems approach to data loss prevention. Having a unified policy and classification framework across the enterprise is crucial to the success of enterprise DLP projects."

"More than ever, mobile devices and collaborative applications are allowing enterprise users to access and share information with ease, making it increasingly difficult for IT organizations to keep sensitive data protected," said Tom Corn, Vice President of Product Marketing, RSA, The Security Division of EMC. "Integrating RSA's market-leading DLP technology into the Cisco IronPort platform fulfills a substantial need for RSA and Cisco customers, offering a solution for DLP that leverages the infrastructure and provides a common framework for security policy and classification to secure data at rest, in motion and in use."

"Preventing data loss is an essential requirement for our customers," said Keith Valory, Director of Product Management, Security Technology Business Unit for Cisco. "Today, we are providing accurate and intuitive solutions for monitoring and preventing data loss where it is extremely critical: on email and on the Web. These solutions give our customers an immediate head start on reducing the risk of data loss. Embedding RSA's data-classification technology and policies into our email security solutions puts Cisco in a unique position to offer a complete solution targeted at protecting data in motion over email."

RSA Email DLP is scheduled to be available as a fully integrated subscription software feature on Cisco IronPort's email security products and services. The Cisco IronPort C-Series with RSA Email DLP is scheduled to be available through Cisco this fall. For more information visit: http://www.cisco.com/go/dlp.
