PRESS RELEASE

WALTHAM, Mass. ' Q1 Labs, a global provider of security information and event management (SIEM) products, today unveiled VFlow Collector for QRadar, the company's new network and application layer activity monitor designed specifically for use by IT professionals to help them oversee and secure their burgeoning virtual environments.

Successfully monitoring a virtual environment requires the ability to combine logs from virtual hosts with networked application activity, along with the behavior and communication patterns between virtual hosts.

With VFlow Collector for QRadar, administrators have increased visibility into the vast amount of business applications activity appearing across their virtual networks. VFlow Collector for QRadar helps organizations better identify these applications for security monitoring, application-layer behavior analysis, and anomaly detection. VFlow Collector for QRadar also enables operators to capture application content for deeper security and policy forensics.

"Since virtual servers are just as susceptible to security vulnerabilities as physical servers, organizations today now must define and implement appropriate precautionary measures to protect their applications and data that reside on a virtualized server," noted Rachel Chalmers, research director, infrastructure management, at the 451 Group, a technology research firm. "With this announcement, Q1 Labs provides a converged view of applications in both the physical and virtual worlds, and can help administrators combat security threats ' regardless of where they reside on the network."

"More and more, customers are asking for increased visibility into events, flows, offenses, and applications that reside in their virtual environments," said Tom Turner, vice president of marketing and channel sales at Q1 Labs. "Q1 Labs is the first SIEM vendor to offer administrators flexible and adaptable security monitoring capabilities that collect and manage network, host, and security events from their virtual deployments ' including servers, third-party security solutions, and traditional applications."

As a software version of Q1 Labs' appliance-based QFlow Collector solution that is available for deployment in physical environments, VFlow Collector for QRadar runs in a virtual machine and can monitor up to 10,000 flows per minute.

Pricing and Availability

VFlow Collector for QRadar has a list price of $2,500 (USD) and is scheduled to be available in the first quarter of 2009.

VFlow Collector for QRadar is the second virtual network security management product to be brought to market by Q1 Labs in as many months. In mid-November, the company announced the availability of QRadar SLIM Free Edition (FE), a free, downloadable, log management and compliance product that provides organizations with visibility across their networks, data centers, and infrastructures.
