If so, it's likely to be bad news.Reed Elsevier Group PLC, the owner of legal and business information provider LexisNexis, said Tuesday that more than 300,000 people--10 times higher than an original estimate--may have had their profiles stolen from one of its databases.

According to an AP report, the breach was unveiled during internal checking procedures of customers' accounts. U.S. law-enforcement authorities are investigating.

The company, in a statement, said that in addition to the 30,000 individuals already notified, LexisNexis has begun notifying approximately 280,000 additional individuals whose information may have been acquired during these recently identified incidents.
