'Tis the season for security suite updates, with new ones just out from Symantec (Norton) and Trend Micro. The new
2009 Norton Anti-Virus and Internet Security offerings include the expected array of features enhanced by what Symantec is touting as the
world's fastest security products with big speed jumps promised for install, quick scan (33 seconds, according to company materials)and lowest working memory requirements (7 MB.)
In addition to covering its own "usual suspects" array of anti-virus and security features, Trend Micro's 2009 products are promoted as enhancing network security and dashboard control as well as lower memory usage.
Haven't seen the new releases myself yet, so this is just a heads-up regarding their availability. But if you, like many small and midsize businesses, are using off-the-retail-shelf and out-of-the-box (or download) security suites, it's always worth taking a look at new versions from competitors when revision roll out season arrives.
