PRESS RELEASE

RSA' Conference 2009, San Francisco, California, April 21 -- MXI SecurityTM (booth 1855) today announced the release of ACCESS CAC/PIV, a unique, innovative security solution allowing the US Federal Government to use its Common Access Card (CAC) and Personal Identity Verification card (PIV) infrastructure to securely access personal portable security devices (PPSDs).

ACCESS CAC/PIV combines CAC/PIV smart card-based certificate authentication with biometric and password authentication, providing up to three factor authentication to encrypted USB drives. The product works with MXI Security's FIPS 140-2 Level 2 validated Stealth MXPTM Passport, Stealth MXPTM Bio, and Outbacker MXPTM Bio.

"As we've seen in the past few months, government agencies and personnel have been inundated with a wide range of USB stick options to choose from that did not meet the minimum criteria required for portable security," Lawrence Reusing, CEO of MXI Security explained. "The problem remains with vendors offering portable solutions that offer weaker software encryption and authentication policies that continue to put government networks at risk." "Today MXI Security is delivering to the US government an unprecedented level of security and control, which they have come to expect from our company, and this will restore trust in using encrypted USB devices to protect sensitive data and secure access to agency networks," stated Reusing.

An organization's existing CAC/PIV infrastructure and the millions of CAC/PIV smart cards already in hands of personnel are all that is required. Device key management is tied to the PKI encryption key on the user's smart card, password controls can be set in accordance with the Office of Management and Budget SP-800 IA5, and the solution complies with the encryption policies described in GAO-08-525. With ACCESS CAC/PIV, organizations have the option of allowing personnel to self-provision portable secure storage devices, minimizing deployment costs.

The Stealth MXP Passport and Stealth MXP Bio product families range from 1GB to 32GB capacity USB flash devices. The Outbacker MXP Bio product family includes 80GB to 500GB capacity USB hard disk devices. These devices enable organizations to securely store sensitive information, applications, and digital identity credentials. All are available in a FIPS 140-2 Level 2 validated version.

ACCESS CAC/PIV will be demonstrated at MXI Security's booth at the RSA Conference.
