Manufacturer Deploys Palo Alto's PA-4000 Series Firewalls

Haworth replaces "port-blocking" legacy firewalls to safely enable Web 2.0 applications
SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Palo Alto Networks, the leader in next-generation firewalls, today announced that Haworth Inc., a global leader in office furniture design and manufacturing, has deployed Palo Alto Networks' PA-4000 Series next-generation firewalls to dramatically improve application visibility and control over its legacy "port-blocking" firewalls. As a result, Haworth is now safely enabling Web 2.0 applications.

With net sales of US $1.65 billion in 2008, Haworth is a global leader in the design and manufacture of office furniture and organic workspaces, including raised access floors, moveable walls, systems furniture, seating, storage and wood casegoods. Haworth serves markets in more than 120 countries through a global network of 600 dealers.

"Palo Alto Networks gives us a solution that allows us to leverage the productivity gains and efficiencies of Web 2.0 applications, while offering granular visibility and control by the user, so we can make sure the applications are being used in a manner that is safe for our users and the organization," said Chad Clement, manager of information security, Haworth. "It's clear that Palo Alto Networks' firewalls are designed from the ground up to provide unmatched visibility and control of applications, enabling us to protect our network in ways our legacy firewalls could not. After a short evaluation of Palo Alto Networks, it was an easy decision to replace our previous firewalls."

"Haworth is a leading designer and manufacturer of office furniture for organizations worldwide and we are pleased to work with them to address their network security requirements," said Larry Link, vice president of sales, Palo Alto Networks. "They are a very innovative company that is enabling the benefits of 2.0 applications and collaboration. Now working with us, they can avoid the associated security risks. This is good validation that port-blocking firewalls are broken and useless in protecting today's organizations."
