BURLINGTON, Mass. -- Klocwork, Inc., the proven leader in automated source code analysis solutions for mission critical software development, today announced extended Java static source code analysis capabilities as part of its Klocwork Insight product release. With this release, Klocwork now provides the most accurate and comprehensive Java source code analysis solution for identifying critical bugs and security vulnerabilities.

Klocwork’s new Java analysis engine allows developers to benefit from the greatly enhanced capabilities of this release, since Klocwork now analyzes source code directly, addressing the inaccuracies and noise associated with byte code analysis. Static analysis of byte code involves excessive estimation due to the significant dependencies on the Java compiler being used, as newer generations of compilers typically mutate information that is required to perform accurate, high quality analysis. Klocwork has addressed these limitations by creating an all new source code-based quality and security analysis tool chain, thereby increasing the accuracy and breadth of coverage, while at the same time improving the readability of any resulting bug and vulnerability descriptions.

In addition, regardless of the Java environment or framework, Klocwork Insight delivers accurate, relevant analysis to identify bugs and vulnerabilities before code is checked in. It supports all versions of Java up to and including 1.6, and has enhanced support for a variety of popular Java frameworks, including the Google Web Toolkit, AWT, Hibernate, JavaMail, J2EE and J2ME. Klocwork Insight supports Eclipse, IBM Rational Application Developer, Intellij IDEA, and JBuilder 2007 IDEs as well as the ANT & Maven build environments.

“The increasing adoption of Java within quality and security conscious software markets necessitated the development of a more robust, efficient source code analysis tool,” said Gwyn Fisher, chief technology officer, Klocwork. “Static analysis of byte code, while effective for basic static analysis, is becoming less so for organizations who demand sophisticated inter-procedural analysis that delivers maximum accuracy and comprehension. By analyzing source code with our own compiler, combined with integration into all major Java IDEs and build environments, Klocwork delivers relevant, high-value analysis for Java developers.”
