PRESS RELEASE

SANTA CLARA, Calif., Sept. 28, 2007 — Infoblox Inc. today announced availability of the Infoblox-1852 appliance " the newest member of Infoblox's core network services appliance family " designed specifically to enable service providers and very large enterprises to meet the exploding need for high-performance, resilient domain name resolution (DNS) services. The load on service providers' DNS systems is increasing rapidly, due to growth in the number of Internet-connected devices and applications and the increasing reliance on DNS as the 'Net's directory service. For example, a single Web page may require dozens of DNS lookups to gather all of the content used to render the page; an anti-spam system can generate 10 to 20 DNS lookups for every email message; and, IP telephony, social networks, and many other applications are making extensive use of DNS. In the face of this growing demand, service providers are looking for more cost-effective approaches to providing robust, reliable and secure DNS services with sufficient performance at an acceptable cost. Service providers have typically relied on software-based solutions that can be installed on high performance servers to achieve the required DNS performance. However, even with today's high-performance server platforms, delivering acceptable DNS performance at a manageable cost with software-based solutions is challenging. Dedicated, optimized appliances can deliver superior DNS performance with lower capital costs. And, more importantly, DNS appliances can provide built-in security, high-availability, and advanced management features that deliver higher uptime and dramatically reduce operating costs.

The Infoblox-1852 appliance delivers DNS throughput of 110,000 queries per second, which is more than double the performance per dollar of competing solutions. The Infoblox-1852 appliance runs Infoblox's standard NIOS operating system with unique Grid technology that provides automated centralized management and "one-button" patching and upgrades with no downtime. The security-hardened systems provide monitoring and mitigation to defend the service provider network and its customers against DNS cache poisoning attacks. The Infoblox-1852 also includes multiple resilience technologies, such as hardware-based high availability, DNS Anycast, automated disaster recovery, and hot-swappable redundant power supplies. "Service providers and large enterprises face a growing challenge as DNS query loads continue to increase. This is further complicated by ever present threats, like the Kaminsky vulnerability, that can jeopardize DNS infrastructure security and service availability," said Richard Kagan, vice president of marketing at Infoblox. "The new Infoblox-1852 platform gives service providers and enterprises the performance they need at an attractive price, and provides built-in security, resilience and management capabilities that increase uptime and reduce costs."

Pricing and Availability The new Infoblox-1852 appliance platform is now available. Pricing for the appliance with the NS1 package (including DNS, DHCP, IPAM, TFTP/HTTP/FTP and other capabilities) starts at $29,995 in the U.S.
