PRESS RELEASE

Boston , MA – XX July, 2011 – GMO GlobalSign Inc (www.globalsign.com), one of the longest established Certification Authorities (CA) and specialist in Digital Certificate Security, today announced that it has expanded its core SSL product portfolio to include services designed specifically for usage in the Cloud. With many organizations now migrating to the Cloud for a range of web services including hosting, file storage, database management and SaaS applications, maintaining the highest levels of security is a key concern and an important customer requirement that should be addressed by Cloud Service Providers.

GlobalSign’s CloudSSL web service allows service providers instant access to multi-domain SSL Certificates, with the dynamic addition/removal of dozens of fully qualified domain names (FQDNs) per Certificate. End customers simply approve use of SSL on their domain, via approval email or approval URL and the Cloud provider remains in control of the full lifecycle management and administration of SSL across their infrastructure. The new SSL model supports the flexible nature of utility computing and matches Cloud usage or short term billing cycles.

Providing high levels of SSL security in the Cloud is no longer a costly process, as CloudSSL addresses the issues of IP pool restrictions and the need for unlimited server licenses. Providers no longer need to purchase individual SSL Certificates on behalf of their customers and the SSL Certificate can be installed on an unlimited number of virtual machines - a fundamental requirement within virtualized environments. Domains can be activated as new web services are deployed and when a customer no longer requires SSL they can be deactivated via a simple API call, leaving capacity in the SSL pool free for the next customer.

“GlobalSign’s new CloudSSL solution was developed in conjunction with our Cloud Service Provider partners to expand the capabilities of traditional SSL by introducing a variety of usage models”, said Steve Waite, Chief Marketing Officer, GMO GlobalSign. “By addressing the issues of IP address restrictions, management of individual customers SSL Certificates, as well as customized usage periods, CloudSSL is the most flexible approach to SSL usage currently available.”

Partnering with GlobalSign to enhance our security offerings in the Cloud has successfully met our expectations and those of our customers to date”, said Matthew Price, Chief Executive, CloudFlare. “We aim to work closely with GlobalSign and its product development team in the near future to continue to implement a number of key road map plans, which will become crucial within ever evolving Cloud environments”.

CloudSSL has initially been in beta with CloudFlare and other Cloud Service Providers and is now officially available.
