"Effective solutions to control information once it leaves the owner's possession have been slow to enter the market due to complexity of operation and deployment," said Bob Egner, U.S. President of Egress Software Technologies. "Contrasted with an increasing trend of data breaches from third-party mishandling of information, Egress Switch is designed to secure information through encryption and accurately ensure that only intended recipients can gain access. This patent reinforces the status of Egress as an innovator in the field of developing affordable, easy-to-use, trusted data security solutions."
Egress Switch allows an information owner to package their sensitive information using strong AES 256-bit encryption and send it to a recipient in a variety of ways such as attached to an email, burned on a CD/DVD, copied to a USB stick or transferred through the web or FTP. The owner can then set or change security policies independent of the package through a service in the cloud. Security policies can include authorizing recipients and limiting recipient access. These changes can be made in real time, even after the information is sent or shared. This allows a user to "pull information back" if it needs to be recalled.
Egress Switch also offers a complete view of when the information recipient has opened or used the shared information, as well as unauthorized access attempts, providing an audit trail. The owner can then easily track activity of their shared information through logs arranged by package or recipient.
Continued Egner, "Our customers have made their needs perfectly clear and this innovative technology paves the way for new generation of secure data exchange."
Delivered in a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) model, Egress Switch was introduced in March and has a growing base of users. For more information on Egress Switch or to download the latest version, please visit www.egress.com.
