New security company Dasient is offering at no charge a limited functionality version of its anti-malware software. The module, for Apache Web server, blocks infected Web pages and aims to help keep companies from finding their site on Internet black lists.Dasient's free version of its Web Anti-Malware (WAM) prevents visitors from reaching infected Web pages; the free version, which lacks some of the functionality of the for-pay release, is called Mod Anti-Malware Lite.

While the Lite version keeps visitors from reaching compromised pages, the premium version includes cleaning and remediation service.

Mod Anti-Malware Lite is open source, and will be available as Dasient's site, as well as via sourceforge.net.

Worth a look if you're running Apache Web Server, and worth recommending a look to your hosts and providers if you're not serving up your pages yourself.
