One of the things we've learned in publishing Dark Reading is that a pretty wide range of people work under the title of "security professional." There are techies and managers, risk managers and privacy people, white hats and black hats. Not surprisingly, they aren't all interested in the same news and information.With this diversity in mind, Dark Reading has begun offering some focused coverage that targets "security pros" who have a particular interest in specific subcategories of security -- hopefully by now, you've seen some of our Dark Reading "Tech Centers," which offer focused content on subtopics such as database security, vulnerability management, insider threats, and security services.

In keeping with this idea, yesterday we launched a new newsletter: the Dark Reading Database Security Weekly. This email newsletter, which is an adjunct to our Database Security Tech Center, offers many of the same features as our regular weekly newsletter, with links to all of the newest stories and features on our site and around the Web. But like the Tech Center, it focuses solely on the topic of database security.

We're hoping this new, free newsletter will be useful to professionals who specifically work with databases and the security of the information that resides within them. It's designed to bring the latest news and analysis to "security pros" who are savvy in the latest technologies and threats, but we think it will also be a useful resource for database administrators, higher-level executives, and even mainstream businesspeople whose jobs are affected by the security of their databases -- but who don't have time to sort through a dozen different news sites to keep up to date.

It contains news and information that go above and beyond the Dark Reading Weekly, and is designed to be useful not only for security pros, but for the database administrators, developers, and businesspeople they work with.
