Network hardware vendor D-Link released an IP-based, networkable dome camera for indoor surveillance. The D-Link Fixed Dome Network Camera DCS-6110 has a VGA CMOS sensor and a built-in Samba client for NAS, so it doesn't need a direct connection to a PC for capturing video. Power Over Ethernet support means that it requires only an Ethernet cable as both power supply and network connection. It can simultaneously deliver Motion JPEG video -- better for detailed monitoring -- and MPEG-4 video, better for extended recording. Video can even be viewed from a mobile phone with a 3GPP player.
"The feature-rich DCS-6110 fixed dome network camera represents a premiere digital surveillance solution for businesses requiring security monitoring of a location either locally or remotely," said Chris Wong, D-Link's director of product management. Price is $699.Market Wire via MarketWatch, ChannelWeb
