SUNNYVALE, Calif. — Nov. 9, 2011 — Centrify Corporation, the leading provider of security and compliance solutions that centrally control, secure and audit access to cross-platform systems and applications using Active Directory, today announced that Children’s Hospital Oakland Research Institute (CHORI) is deploying its Centrify Suite 2012 solution to centralize all security and policy controls for its growing Macintosh and Linux user populations. Now, CHORI centrally controls access within its research community for its more than 500 systems in Active Directory — using the same methodology employed for Windows systems — for increased security and compliance.

CHORI is the internationally renowned biomedical research institute of Children’s Hospital and Research Center at Oakland. According to Hanes, Apple representatives recommended Centrify to CHORI, which must also authenticate access to protected health information (PHI) in clinical research labs and comply with HIPAA. In addition to private patient information, these systems contain significant amounts of genetic data to help researchers match patients with DNA and discover how genetics might fit into treatments for conditions such as diabetes, cancer, and infectious diseases. Now with Centrify, CHORI sets controls and limits access of these systems, no matter what computing platform researchers use.
