The newest version of their high-performance VPN firewall appliance offers superior security and filtering, advanced protection, enhanced support and performance, improved filtering capabilities, and a completely new user interface. The company also announced that global sales of BorderWare SteelGate have more than doubled in the last three years, while sales in North America quadrupled in the first half of 2009 over the same period in 2008.

BorderWare SteelGate version 8.0 includes the best-of-bread attributes seen in past versions and complements those with new features, including:
Standard based VLAN support on DMZ interfaces with ability to configure up to 16 interfaces per unit
Quality of Service (QoS) support through sharing output bandwidth in a fair manner between traffic flows
Enhanced packet filtering capabilities containing both source and destination interface
New, more intuitive Web user interface featuring ribbon-style menu with ability to unify behavior with BorderWare Security Platform
New dashboard with brief statistical summary of current activity for rapid assessment of system status
New IPsec VPN solution for enhanced support and performance
Advanced DNS security for enhanced protection against DNS cache poisoning
Support for SATA system and new SteelGate 360 appliance model
Updated S-CORE operating system
In addition, the new version will continue to provide anti-malware, anti-virus, and anti-spyware protection, and integrates with the BorderWare ReputationAuthority, an effective reputation system that blocks and monitors email and Web traffic at the perimeter. The solution's unique architecture and ability to track multiple threat types in real-time, allows it to make a more informed and accurate decision about network traffic and provides security, flexibility, and high performance in a single solution.
