PRESS RELEASE

SUNNYVALE, Calif., June 7, 2011 – Blue Coat Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: BCSI), a leading provider of Web security and WAN optimization solutions, today announced that it is using its IPv6 Secure Web Gateway solution to enable the secure and seamless migration of applications, services and content between IPv4 and IPv6 environments for World IPv6 Day. The Blue Coat' IPv6 Secure Web Gateway and IPv6 WAN Optimization solutions have been deployed by global companies, including NTT.

“To successfully transition to IPv6, organizations must consider a number of issues that are often taken for granted in IPv4 environments, including creating secure user policies and accelerating or optimizing IPv6-enabled Web content. Traditional technologies that address these challenges in IPv4 environments don’t work in IPv6 environments,” said Qing Li, chief scientist at Blue Coat Systems. “The Blue Coat ProxySG appliance is the only solution in the industry that can both rate new and unknown IPv6 Web content in real time and optimize that content over the WAN, making the transition between IPv4 and IPv6 environments seamless for users.”

During World IPv6 Day, companies will make their Websites available over IPv6 for a 24-hour test period. The goal is to motivate organizations, including service providers, content providers and hardware vendors, to prepare their services and products for IPv6 to ensure a successful transition from IPv4 addresses. At the beginning of 2006, Blue Coat obtained native IPv6 connectivity with a /48 address allocation that provides the company with IPv6 operational expertise. Since 2006, Blue Coat has invested in research to understand application and service security in IPv6 environments, developed IPv6 content acceleration and examined new IPv6-oriented services. As customers, like NTT, deploy the Blue Coat ProxySG' appliance, they can benefit from this knowledge by leveraging the technology advantages of IPv6 to reduce costs and increase operational efficiencies.

As a secure IPv6 application migration platform, the Blue Coat ProxySG appliance acts as an intelligent intermediary between requests and content, making the retrieval of applications, services and data in either an IPv4 or IPv6 environment transparent to users. To minimize network disruption and simplify migration, Blue Coat ProxySG appliances consistently enforce corporate IT policies across IPv4 and IPv6 applications and content spaces. As the world’s first IPv6 security and acceleration solution, the ProxySG appliance received the IPv6 Application Solution Pioneer Award from the IPv6 Forum in 2010.
